What are Hydrocolloid Dressings?

Hydrocolloid dressings are flexible, water-resistant dressings made of gel-forming agents that absorb fluid. These non-adherent primary dressings support natural healing (autolytic debridement) by providing thermal insulation and a moist healing environment. This promotes faster healing than dry dressings and can reduce scarring. They’re ideal for wounds with minimal to moderate drainage. They can also protect intact skin or newly healed sites from friction. Our latex-free bordered dressing has a water-resistant polyurethane outer layer and a gentle adhesive border.

How to Apply Hydrocolloid Dressings:

1. Clean the wound with saline or wound cleanser and pat dry.
2. Cut the dressing 1-2 inches larger than the wound and apply.
3. For increased adhesion, warm the dressing and hold for 30-40 seconds.
4. Remove by peeling in the direction of hair growth.
5. Change every 3-7 days, depending on drainage.
