NuMed Silver Foam Dressings are made of a polyurethane foam, polyvinyl alcohol, silver sulfate and silver chloride. The dressings are highly absorbent and contain 0.40mg/cm of ionic silver as the active component.
The dressing provides an optimal moist healing environment combining an effective antibacterial activity in the dressing with exudate management and physical protection from pressure injury.
The dressing has broad spectrum antibacterial effects covering for both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. It has been shown to have 4 log reduction of bacterial load, which is equivalent to a 99.99% reduction for up to 7 days in vitro against the following bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
NuMed Silver Foam Wound Dressings combine the antimicrobial action of silver with the absorbent and protective benefits of the NuMed Ultra Foam Dressing. These Silver Foam Dressings are absorbent, non-adherent padded wound dressings that absorb wound exudate while effectively providing protection from pressure, friction and infection.
Our NuMed Silver Foam wound dressings are a popular choice among wound care professionals and are frequently used to protect heels, elbows, amputation sites and other boney prominences. Silver Foam Dressings provide additional protection from bacteria and other microbes and can be used in situations where infection is a concern.
Silver Foam Dressings are an excellent choice for the management of moist wounds and are particularly effective at minimizing discomfort and pain by providing padding to the wound and preventing dressing related trauma while providing protection against infection.
