Our Dynarex Xeroform Gauze dressing is a sterile, non-adherent, knitted gauze impregnated with a blend of high-quality, healing ingredients. These non-occlusive dressings allow the wound to breathe. They maintain a moist environment to encourage healing and minimize the risk of skin and tissue maceration. For minimally draining wounds, Xeroform dressings are comfortable and great for treating chronic non-infected wounds.

Xeroform Dressings Are Medicated To Prevent Infection Of Wound Sites

• Sterile, fine mesh gauze impregnated with a blend of Petrolatum, Bismuth thiophanate, mineral oil, and Paraffin oil
• Non-adherent to the wound site
• Maintains moist wound environment
• Non-occlusive primary dressing, allowing the flow of exudate away from wound site into a secondary dressing
• Indicated for use on minimally draining wounds, including surgical incisions, lacerations, donor sites and burns

When to use Xeroform Dressings

Xeroform Gauze  Dressings can be used on many different types of wounds including surgical sites, diabetic wounds, venous ulcers, burns and pressure injuries. Xeroform has antimicrobial properties to control bacterial growth and odors.  Xeroform is non-stick and facilitates comfortable dressing changes. Xeroform dressing are extremely easy to use, the dressing is simply laid flat on a clean wound bed and secured in place with a clean dry dressing.

Why Does Xeroform Smell?

Xeroform gauze dressings can have a mild odor from the petroleum and bismuth that give the product is yellow color. If a Xeroform dressing is left in place for a long time and begins to produce a foul odor the dressing should be changed. Any sudden changed in dressing appearance or odor should  be reported to a wound care expert or other healthcare professional.

How Long Can Xeroform Be Left On A Wound?

Many wound care professionals recommend daily or every other day dressing changes. Some wounds can be changed less frequently based on the recommendations of your wound care professional. Most wound care professionals wound not leave a Xeroform dressing unchanged for longer than 3-5 days.

Does Xeroform Have Any Side Effects?

Xeroform Gauze is not know to have any significant health related side effects.
